Whether roasting a turkey or roasting a pot roast, a roasting pan can make your job much easier in the kitchen. All you have to do is throw all of your ingredients into the roasting pot, place it inside of the oven, and keep an eye on it until the meal is finished cooking. You have probably placed aluminum foil inside of your roasting pan many times before to help ease cleaning of the pan. However, if you have a pan with a nonstick surface, you don't have to use the foil. All you have to do is properly take care of your roasting pan to protect the nonstick coating.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove all of the food from the roasting pan once you have finished roasting. Allowing the food to sit inside of the pan for long periods of time can decrease the effectiveness of your nonstick coating.

Note that you should avoid using metal utensils to scrape remaining food residue from your roasting pan. The metal utensils can scratch up and damage the nonstick coating of your pan.

  2. Step 2

Allow your pan to sit and cool off for a few minutes until it is cool enough to touch.

  3. Step 3

Fill your sink with lukewarm water and mild dishwashing liquid. Placing the pan inside of an electric dishwasher can cause damage to the coating of your pan.

  4. Step 4

Place your cooled roasting pan in the lukewarm water. Do not sit a hot nonstick roasting pan in water until the pan has completely cooled down. Placing a hot pan in cool or lukewarm water can damage your pan and cause the nonstick coating to warp.

  5. Step 5

Wash the pan with a soft towel or sponge. If the pan is difficult to clean, leave it immersed in lukewarm water and suds for about 30 minutes to loosen the residue.

  6. Step 6

Use a dry dish towel to dry your roasting pan. By removing all of the water from your pan before storing it you can prevent rusting and wear to your non-stick coating.
