How to Use Paper Towels As Baby Wipes
Paper towels work well as baby wipes, and you can easily and cheaply make your own liquid cleansing solution that will be gentle and effective. You'll save money and you'll know exactly what is in the wipes you are using on baby's sensitive skin.
Things You'll Need
- 2 empty baby wipe containers (or similar sized container)
- Roll of paper towels
- 1/2 cup natural baby shampoo
- 1/2 cup gentle oil (such as olive oil, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil)
- 4 cups water
Instructions
-
-
1
Combine the baby shampoo and oil with the water in a large mixing bowl or pitcher. Set it aside.
-
2
Cut the roll of paper towels in half by laying them down on a flat surface and using a sharp, serrated knife (a bread knife works well) to cut them in half so you have two "mini" sized rolls of paper towels.
-
-
3
Remove the cardboard center from each mini roll and put one mini roll into each empty baby wipe container.
-
4
Pour about half the liquid solution over each mini roll of paper towels. Set aside and allow the solution to soak into the paper towels for several hours.
-
5
Pull the edge of a paper towel through the opening of the baby wipe container and use as you would normal baby wipes.

Tips & Warnings
Make up another mixture of liquid solution (you can halve the recipe) and keep it near the changing table in a spray bottle for those really messy diapers, or to remoisten the very last few towels in the roll if they dry out.
Watch for rashes or allergic reactions on baby's bottom; if you see any symptoms, you may need to switch to a gentler baby shampoo or a different type of oil for your cleansing solution.
