How to Read Palms & Astrology
Practiced worldwide, palmistry is an ancient art with its roots in Asia, East India and Gypsy fortune telling. Palmistry is the reading of the lines, marks, shapes, and points on a the hand a person writes with to predict their destiny. Palmistry analyzes a persons emotional and intellectual capacity as well as their relationships, life experiences, health, finances, work and past lives. The psychic and intuitive ability of the palm-reader can greatly enhance divination. Palmistry and astrology are parts of the same science as parts of the hand correlate to specific planets and their characteristics.

The hand has quadrants that are specifically linked to the planets Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Start by taking a pen and placing it vertically on the inside of the hand that you write with between the the middle finger and the ring finger, forming a line down to the wrist. The side of your hand that the thumb is on describes your Ascendant, the sign known as your rising sign, which in a person's astrological natal chart was on the Eastern horizon when you were born. This is not the sun sign. The Ascendant or rising sign is how others see you i.e., your public image. The other side, where the smallest end-finger is is the Descendant or Sun sign which is your interior personality and has to do with how you see yourself, the world and how you relate to others. If these areas are thick and strong, so is the personality. If they are thin and weak, the personae is more timid and docile.

The forefinger or index finger and the mound just below it next to the thumb is the quadrant of Jupiter. This area relates to an individual's life philosophy, beliefs, morals and also self-confidence and leadership skills. A person who loves life and its joys possesses a long, strong, index finger that pulls slightly away from the middle finger. If the Jupiter finger is weak and short, this indicates that this person is a wanderer who lacks purpose and ambition.

The middle finger and the fleshy area just beneath it is related to Saturn and denotes science, math, logic, language and religion. A long, strong middle finger suggests a responsible person who accumulates wealth and power. A short, weak Saturn finger indicates a person who lacks ambition, a sense of responsibility, and who often drinks, gambles and borrows money. A Saturn finger with a wide, thick pad predicts talent in music, crafts, sewing, gardening, cooking or pottery. Vertical lines off the section of hand just below the middle finger predicts that the individual will live a long and happy life. Heavy lines converging in this area indicate a lot of work.

The third or ring finger is the Apollo finger and relates to the Sun. Its influence includes music, leisure, the arts, creativity, affection and home-life. If the ring finger is longer that the index finger which represents Jupiter, the person is very artistic and creative. If the Jupiter and the Sun or Apollo finger are about equal in length, the person may have a talent for singing and acting. If the A long Apollo finger may indicate a lack of practicality and ability to save money. If the Apollo finger is longer than the Jupiter index finger, the individual may have low sense of self-worth. A long ring finger also connotes success in business, home and family. If both the Jupiter and Apollo finger are really short, the person may lack leadership abilities. An index finger and ring finger that are nearly equal in length gives good self-esteem, unselfishness, loves others but also takes care of self, and possesses a balanced outlook on life. If the Apollo finger is unusually short, the person may lack a sense of humor and an interest in family life.

The fleshy area below the third finger is called the Mount of Apollos. Lines, marks, and the skin ridge in this area describe the persons sense of humor, style, family and life values as well as showing whether or not the person will live to old age.

The smallest finger opposite the thumb is related to Mercury. It governs the facets of communication and sexual expression. If the tip of the Mercury finger reaches the last joint of the Apollo finger the person is a good communicator. If the Mercury finger pulls away slightly from the Apollo finger the personality is independent and self-contained. A small Mercury finger indicates the individual is slow to love and sex. If the Mercury finger is bent or hooked, it indicates a difficult person. Marks that appear on the Mercury finger predict the compassion, mechanical ability, learning aptitude and healing qualities.

The large area of the palm that borders the thumb is called the Mount of Venus and relates to passion. A wide Mount of Venus indicates a lot of creative energy but if this area is narrow and weak, the person may fall short of goals due to lack of enthusiasm. A high, wide Mount of Venus gives wealth, style, culinary and gardening talent. A Low Mount of Venus suggests a lack of interest in dress, art, gardening and a generally non-materialistic attitude.

The Mount of the Moon is located at the lower end of the palm. This area is associated with travel, imagination, and adventure. If this area is large, the individual usually lives near water and is adept at traveling. Strong lines in this area indicate a powerful emotional nature, psychic and healing abilities, creativity and luck.

The bottom of the hand where it meets the wrist is called the Mount of Neptune, or Pluto. A high mount indicates psychic ability and a low mount the lack thereof. This mount links the Venus and Luna Mount which represent the conscious and unconscious respectively. It also relates to pregnancies, sexual function and shared resources.
Mars is represented in the part of the hand form the thumb directly across the palm. A high, fat Mars indicates sports, religion or the military. A thick Mars area may make the person angry and quarrelsome. A weak, thin Mars area suggests a person who is non-confrontational, easily upset and misdirected. The thumb is attached to the lower Mars area and show how a person thinks and behaves. A thumb that turns back at the tip predicts that the person may be a compulsive shopper. (*See Resource 1*)

The knuckles on the back of the hand and finger joints are ruled by Uranus. If these joints tend to be wide and knotted, the person is said to have an academic mind and the ability to think before acting. Strong finger joints under Uranus give the person unusual interests and a desire to live life in their own way.
