Things You'll Need:
- Large bucket
- 5 rags
- Liquid dish soap
- Warm water
-
Step 1
Fill bucket with warm but not scalding water. For each gallon of water add 1/4 cup of liquid dish soap to the bucket. Stir the soap into the water until it is combined and sudsy.
-
Step 2
Open the vertical blinds so that the slats allow the sun to shine through. Place a rag under the section of blinds that will be cleaned first; this rag will catch any dripping soapy water from running onto the floor. Dip a clean rag into the soapy water and saturate, squeeze the rag to eliminate excessive water.
-
Step 3
Wipe the rag down the length of the blind beginning at the top. Use a gentle circular scrubbing motion to free any stubborn debris. Rise the rag in the soapy water often. Ring it out and continue wiping the blinds.
-
Step 4
Work in small sections down the length of the blinds. Continue to place a dry rag underneath the work area. Once all sections have been cleaned with soapy water, dump the bucket of soapy water and rinse the bucket well.
-
Step 5
Fill the bucket with fresh cool water to wipe the blinds again.
-
Step 6
Repeat wiping the blinds. Start in the same order as before with clean water and a clean rag. Remove all traces of soapy water and wipe away moisture with a fresh dry rag.
-
Step 7
Allow the blinds to dry overnight.
