Things You'll Need:
- Chemical stripper
- Hand tools
- Pressure washer
- Two clean rags
-
Step 1
Remove all hardware from the bike using the hand tools. Everything must be removed from the frame, including the crank, handlebars, headset and wheels.
-
Step 2
Stuff the rag into the empty crank area of the bike to avoid damaging the interior of the crankset and ensure future performance.
-
Step 3
Spray the frame with chemical stripper and let it sit for at least 10 minutes to seep into the paint. Once the paint begins to bubble, you are ready to proceed.
-
Step 4
Spray the bike with the pressure washer to remove the loose paint. The higher the pressure of the stream, the easier to remove the paint.
-
Step 5
Sand any paint left in the crevices of the bike to complete the project.
-
Step 6
Remove the rag from the crankset and wipe down the bike thoroughly with a clean rag. The bike is now ready to be primed, painted and reassembled.
