Step 1
Gather and measure the cake ingredients:
*1 cup of all-purpose flour
*1 teaspoon of baking powder
*1 stick of butter
*1 cup of sugar
*4 eggs
*16 ounces of chocolate syrup
*1 teaspoon of vanilla extract -
Step 2
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together in one bowl.

In another bowl, cream the sugar and butter together. Then beat in the eggs.

Alternately, add the dry ingredients and chocolate syrup. Beat well and mix in the vanilla.

Pour into a 9X13 inch cake pan and baked for 30 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Make the icing:
*1 cup of sugar
*1 stick of butter
*1/2 cup of chocolate chips
*1/3 cup of evaporated milk
*1/2 teaspoon of vanilla -
Step 7
Mix all of the ingredients, except the vanilla, in a saucepan.

Stir constantly and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 9
Stir in vanilla, and continue to beat the frosting with a spoon until it thickens.

Step 10
Allow the icing to cool some, and spread the cake.
