Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese is the ultimate comfort food. It may not be served at the finest of restaurants, but rest assured it was served at many a dinner table tonight.

Did you know that you can make plain old boxed mac and cheese taste a whole lot better? It really is not that hard.

Follow any of the steps below to make that plain Jane box of mac and cheese taste almost home made.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • box of mac and cheese
  • any type of cheese, depending on what you have on hand
  • cream, or
  • extra butter, or
  • chopped onion, or
  • garlic powder, or
  • fried bacon, crumbled
  1. Step 1

If you have any cheese on hand, sliced sandwich cheese, shredded or even Parmesan, add a little when you add the milk and butter. Stir until melted. This little addition will make boxed mac and cheese taste a lot better.

  2. Step 2

Instead of milk, add cream when cooking boxed mac and cheese, this will make it taste better.

  3. Step 3

If you don't have cream on hand, add extra butter or margarine. Anything to make the cheese sauce a little richer. The richer the cheese sauce, the better the boxed mac and cheese tastes.

  4. Step 4

Don't be afraid to add extras. Onion, garlic powder, fried bacon, ham...whatever your family likes, add to the mac and cheese for extra flavor to make it taste better.
