If you want a delicious chicken dish that requires no watching in the slow cooker, this is for you! The green chili salsa makes a tangy sauce that is rich and tasty, but not at all hot. Try this on a busy day when you want a chicken dinner the easy way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • slow cooker
  • 2-1/2 to 3 pounds of chicken pieces -- bone in. (breasts, legs, or mixed)
  • 8 ounces of green chili salsa
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  1. Step 1

Cut the chicken into smaller pieces. If you are using chicken breasts, cut them in half. With legs, separate the drumstick from the thigh. Place in the bottom of the slow cooker.

  2. Step 2

Pour 8 ounces (1 cup) of green chili salsa over the chicken. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.

  3. Step 3

Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook for 5-1/2 to 6 hours. Exact time will depend on your slow cooker. The sauce or gravy will have a rich color and a delicious flavor. Makes about 4 or 5 servings. Serve with brown rice or noodles.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a quick substitute for noodles, cut corn tortillas into strips and warm slightly in the microwave. Serve chicken and sauce over these tortilla "noodles."
