Things You'll Need:
- Motivation
- Energy
- Good eating habits
-
Step 1
Despite the hype, there are no hard and fast rules to losing weight quickly and keeping it off for a life time. However, there are five M’s to help you lose weight, feel great and look fabulous for a life time. The five M’s are Metabolism, Methods to Managing food portions and hunger, Making healthy food choices or selections, and Motivation or mindset to exercise properly and consistently.
-
Step 2
Have you ever wondered why some people can eat anything they want and practically do nothing, but still look model thin? At the same time you can see other people who exercise and eat healthy but still have problems losing weight. You may have chalked it up to genetics, but the real reason is related to the rate or pace of their metabolism. Those individuals with quick metabolism can lose weight faster as a result of their body being able to break down and digest fatty foods and produce energy faster than those individuals with slow metabolism. The key is to speed up your metabolism.
-
Step 3
This leads us to the next M, which is methods to managing food portions and hunger. The key to getting the metabolism to speed up is to eat smaller portions of healthy food on a regular basis. This means that you should eat three meals per day and snack in between each meal (eat six times per day). Although you’re eating smaller portions you’re actually eating more food which satisfies your hunger.
-
Step 4
Now we’re ready to discuss the next M which is making healthy food choices or food selections. You should choose to eat more fruits and vegetables instead of eating foods that are high in calories or fat. Read the labels on your food so that you know how many calories and fat you‘re eating. The goal is to decrease your fat and calorie intake. Instead of snacking on foods that start with a “c” like cookies, candy, and cake. Snack on “ABC“ foods such as , Apples, Bannanas, Broccoli, and Carrots. Choose to eat meats like turkey and chicken instead of beef and pork which are harder to digest. Eat baked chicken or fish instead of frying it.
-
Step 5
Now we’re ready for the last M. Motivation or Mindset to exercise properly and consistently. You should exercise at least 30 minutes per day. The exercises should consist of cardiovascular exercises that get your heart rate up in order to burn fat. This means get on a tread mill or run around the neighborhood. If you’re not up to running, try fast walking until you’re able to run or jog (or wog which is a mix between walking and jogging). You can also do aerobics or ride a bike. No matter how hard it is, motivate yourself to do it. You can get yourself motivated by using a work out buddy. This is a person who will exercise with you and hold you accountable for reaching your goal of working out daily for 30 minutes. Visualize yourself looking and feeling fabulous. If you have a hard time visualizing this, cut out pictures in a magazine of the type of body that you want, and then paste or glue a picture of your face on the body that you want. Look at the picture every day and tell yourself “I look great and feel fabulous because I exercise every day”.
