Prevent Your Hair From Turning Green From Chlorine

Do you have blonde hair? If you do, and your worried about your hair turning green from chlorine in pools and hot tubs - don't fret! Yes, every blonde haired person has had to deal with green hair from time to time and it can be slightly embarrassing. This is because a.) your not naturally blonde and b.) when you color your hair blonde - you strip out all natural oils which protect hair. This can leave the window open for chemicals to latch onto your hair and change the color for a temporary time. There are things you can do to prevent your hair from turning green in swimming pools and hot tubs without wearing a swimming cap.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

CONDITION YOUR HAIR. Add a load of conditioner to your hair before you ever get into a pool or hot tub that you know contains large amounts of chlorine. There are a number of reasons that can be helpful to your hair. First, it will protect your blonde hair from turning green and also it will condition your hair and help prevent breakage due to harsh chemicals in the water.

  2. Step 2

APPLY OLIVE OIL TO YOUR HAIR. If you don't want to use a ton of conditioner in your hair in a pool, use a large amount of olive oil throughout your hair before ever stepping foot in chlorine based water. The olive oil will protect your hair from chlorine and it will not stick to your hair strands. It will simply slide right off when you shower.

  3. Step 3

TRY TO KEEP YOUR HAIR PULLED UP. Whenever you know your going to be in chlorine based water, try to keep your hair up and away from the water. If your just relaxing in a hot tub, there is no reason to really go underwater, therefore just pulling your hair back should protect it from turning green at all costs. If your going to be swimming - try the above steps and also keep your hair pulled back in a bun to keep the olive oil or conditioner in your hair longer.

  4. Step 4

REAPPLY SOLUTION TO HAIR AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS. This will ultimately keep your hair from turning green while your having a blast. Don't get too caught up in the fun and forget to reapply the solution to your hair again. When your swimming or under water the oil or conditioner may wear off and get rubbed off of your hair strands, it's best to reapply after about 30 minutes of fun.
