Instructions

    • 1

Gather your equipment. You will need a camera, try to get the best one you can afford. Web shows rarely have expensive scenery or props, so try to save up for a nice camera. Make sure that your camera is capable of being hooked up to your computer.

    • 2

Write a script. Many people turn on the camera and just adlib. Adlibbing is not for everyone. Many people will benefit from using a script. It will help relieve stage fright and will also help you edit your show and know what needs to be rerecorded.

    • 3

Learn your lines. Practice your script until everyone can say their lines in a conversational way. Try not to look too rehearsed.

    • 4

Record your clip. You will probably have to record four of five times. Rarely will you get everything perfect on the first try, even if you do, you may want to have a few different versions to choose from.

    • 5

Find a Hosting site for your show. Many people use youtube.com but there are many others. Some people buy their own website to put their videos on. You may want to start out on a site such as youtube and buy a website when you get more popular.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to start a routine. Always practice your lines on the same day each week and record on the same day.

  • You will get more views if you post a video regularly (every Friday or once a month.) Pick a day to post your videos and stick with it. If your audience knows when your show will be, they will look forward to watching it and set aside time to do so.

  • You can drive traffic to your show by hosting contests or giving away prizes. Prizes can be as simple as having someone else's web show critiqued or advertised on yours.

  • You may want to look into how to write a screenplay. Writing in screenplay format will give you a more accurate time gauge when recording.

  • If you won't be able to record on the day you usually do, prerecord it and have someone upload it on the designated day for you.

  • Remember anything you upload can be seen by everyone, including potential employers, use discretion.
