Step 1
One way to study for an exam is to take good notes in class. Many teachers will base their tests on the information they provided for you in class. As hard as it may be sometimes, be sure to pay attention and write down notes - not only the notes from the board, but whatever you feel may be important.
-
Step 2
Use index cards or flash cards. This is especially good for vocabulary tests - or tests that require memorization. Write the word on one side, and the definition on the other.
**Index cards are also useful for writing speeches, and making presentations** -
Step 3
Use a tape recorder to record yourself as you read your notes/study materials aloud. Than, replay it back as many times as you'd like. I've even heard of people leaving the tape recording on while they sleep!
-
Step 4
Create an outline. Look over your notes and draw out the key facts/information. You might want to use a different color for the main points in the outline, and a different color for the body. Re-writing information will make you think about it and hopefully help you to understand it better.
-
Step 5
If you own the textbook, make notes in the margins and highlight important information. Also, you can use post its and stickys so you can remember the page and know what it is on that page that you need to study.
