The Holiday Season brings such delicious traditional family recipes it's hard not to indulge.

Having several recipes that are healthier for us, even during the holiday season, is key to keeping those extra unwanted pounds away.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 lbs Lean Ground Turkey
  • 1 1/2-packages 12 oz. No Yolk Noodles
  • 2 large Jars Spaghetti Sauce of choice, or homemade
  • is best if want to reduce the sodium or omit msg.
  • Parmesan Cheese(reduced fat)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Dash, Morton light Salt
  • Ground Pepper to taste
  • Large cooking pot and spoon
  • Frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Colander
  1. Step 1

In a medium size skillet. Break up the ground turkey, add onion, salt and pepper and add garlic when turkey is almost done. Drain off any extra grease.

  2. Step 2

Add spaghetti sauce to ground turkey mixture and simmer for about 40 minutes. Stir mixture a few times and add a small amount of water if it becomes to thick. Turn off the burner and keep the lid on tight while preparing the noodles.

  3. Step 3

In a large soup pot, bring water to a rolling boil, add noodles and follow the package directions for how long they should boil. Drain noodles in a colander. Don't rinse the noodles, drain well.

  4. Step 4

Pour the drained noodles into the turkey, spaghetti sauce mixture and mix thoroughly. Serve while hot. Add grated parmesan cheese on top of the Goulash.

  5. Step 5

Serving suggestions: Serve with garlic bread and choice of dinner salad. Yield, makes 6 to 8 servings.

Tips & Warnings
  • The traditional recipe calls for ground Beef and Pepperoni in the sauce which is very good as well. The no yolk noodles are very good and you can't tell the difference which helps when you are revising a recipe to make it healthier without compromising the taste.
  • By making your own Spaghetti sauce, you can reduce the sodium and omit the msg. Just make sure the amount is equivalent to 2 large jars of purchased sauce.
