Whether you are traveling on vacation or simply need to connect to wireless internet away from home, you need to find the nearest WiFi locations that offer free wireless internet. PDAs, cell phones, laptop computers, music players, and more common gadgets can use WiFi to run their applications. Here a guide about how to find these wireless internet hotspots.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Bring your laptop, cell phone, or other device that can pick up wireless internet in the car with you as you make your way through town. Turn on the device and let it scan for wireless networks in range. Sometimes, you will pick up a signal from WiFi locations that is locked for security. Keep driving and looking for WiFi hotspots because you will not be able to access that network without a password.

  2. Step 2

If you frequently travel and need to find WiFi hotspots, invest in a WiFi finder. This is a small device that not only detects a WiFi signal, but it also tells you the strength of that signal and can direct you to the signal's location.

  3. Step 3

Use an online WiFi finder. These are services that can tell you about WiFi locations in an area that you will be going to. Using one of these online services can really help you save time because you will know exactly where to find the wireless internet signal when you arrive in town.
