The traditional chicken parmigiana dish involves frying up chicken patties and serving them on hamburger buns. This dish provides a different, healthier though equally delicious alternative utilizing baked chicken breasts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Cups of Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Jar of Tomato Sauce or Crushed Tomatoes
  • Basil
  • Oregano
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F. Begin by combining milk and egg into a bowl large enough to fit one chicken breast. Beat egg until the mixture is homogenous. Pour breadcrumbs into another, similarly sized bowl.

  2. Step 2

Dip each breast into the egg/milk mixture, and then transfer to the breadcrumbs bowl to completely cover each breast in breadcrumbs. After, place each breast in a casserole pan.

  3. Step 3

Completely cover all four pieces of chicken with the tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes of your choice. Garnish with substantial amounts of basil and oregano.

  4. Step 4

Using shredded mozzarella cheese, sprinkle over entire dish. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Cut thickest chicken breast open to ensure that chicken is cooked entirely. Do not serve until all chicken is thoroughly cooked.

Tips & Warnings
  • When chicken is not cooked fully, one is at risk for salmonella or other bacterial poisoning. Make sure that the chicken is thoroughly cooked before serving.
