Save your pumpkin seeds for roasting

So, you've created your Halloween Jack O'Lantern! After all the carving and cleaning is done, sit back a savor the crispy taste of gently roasted pumpkin seeds fresh from your oven!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Freshly culled pumpkin seeds
  • Cookie baking pan
  • Vegetable oil
  • Garlic salt
  • Bacon Bits
  1. Step 1

After extracting the seeds from your pumpkin, wash them thoroughly in cool water in a large colander, removing any pulp. It may help to swirl them gently while running the water over them.

  2. Step 2

After they are cleaned to your satisfaction, drain the water and pat them dry with a clean paper towel. Then put them in a medium size bowl.

  3. Step 3

Add about ¼ cup of vegetable oil such as olive oil, a ¼ teaspoon of garlic salt and a tablespoon of bacon bits. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and refrigerate for about a half and hour.

  4. Step 4

Heat your oven to 450 degrees. Turn the seed mixture onto a cookie baking pan and place in the oven for about 20 minutes. This will leave a crispy, salty seed on the outside, while keeping it tender inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • Enjoy your seeds right out of the oven as you bask in the candle glow from your freshly carved jack-o-lantern!
  • Let the seeds cool for a few minutes before enjoying them. Anything baked in oil is going to be very hot!
