Coupon shopping can be frustrating if you don't have the coupons organized correctly. If you cannot find the coupons you are looking for, you cannot save money and will most likely give up. But if you organize them correctly, you will be able to find a coupon quickly and when you need it. Whether you are shopping for groceries or cleaning products, this article will show you how to quickly and easily organize your coupons so you can save money while shopping.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clipped Coupons
  • 3x5 Index Card Box
  • 3x5 Tabbed Index Cards with the Alphabet on the Tabs.
  1. Step 1

Clip coupons from the Sunday paper and/or print out coupons from the computer.

  2. Step 2

On a large surface, such as a table, sort the coupons by the manufacturer into alphabetical piles. For example Pillsbury Cresent Rolls goes in the "P" pile instead of "C" for cresent rolls because Pillsbury is the manufacturer.

  3. Step 3

Put your tabbed alphabetical index cards in the index card holder.

  4. Step 4

Take your completed coupon piles and put them behind the tabbed index card of the same letter.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to sort your coupons into food and non-food items. If you have a lot, you can get two index card holder, one for food and one for non-food. Or you can put all the food items toward the front of the section and all the non-food items in the back. For example, Aunt Millie's Bread will be in the front and Ajax and Aspercreme will be in the back of the "A" section.
  • If you don't go through your coupons at least once a month to sort out the expired ones, you will have too many coupons in the card holder. Sorting through the coupons monthly will help you remember which coupons you have to use.
