Things You'll Need:
- Gardening Gloves
- Water Pitcher
- Water
- Black Planting Cloth
- Scissors
-
Step 1
Examine the base of each of the blueberry plants you are growing. Use a watering pitcher to pour water directly on unwanted crabgrass. This will loosen the soil around the crabgrass. Go down the entire row and water the crabgrass that is near the blueberry plants in the row.
-
Step 2
Put on a pair of gardening gloves. Pull up the unwanted crabgrass by hand and make certain to get the roots as well to prevent it from coming back as quickly around your blueberry plants in the row.
-
Step 3
Cut several squares of black, planting cloth. Cut a hole in the center and slit on one edge. Slide the cloth around the base of each of the blueberry plants in the row.
-
Step 4
Cover the cloth around the base of the blueberry plants with 2 inches of organic mulch material.
-
Step 5
Water the blueberry plants well. Repeat for each row of blueberry plants you are growing.
