Vinyl tablecloths are available in numerous patterns and colors, they are low-maintenance and resistant to stains and mold, but they do crease more easily than fabric tablecloths. They are packaged folded, rather than rolled, and even more creases are created by folding them for storage. You can get the creases out easily with a little moisture and low heat.

How to Get Creases Out of a Vinyl Tablecloth

  1. Step 1

Put your vinyl tablecloth in your dryer with a damp towel and a fabric softener sheet. Run on low heat for 5 minutes to freshen the tablecloth. Tumbling the tablecloth with a damp towel heats the vinyl just enough to make it pliable and easy to smooth out the creases.

  2. Step 2

Remove stubborn creases by placing the tablecloth on your ironing board, covering it with a damp towel and ironing the surface of the towel. This transfers a light heat to the tablecloth and smooths out any hard-to-remove creases.

  3. Step 3

Place the vinyl tablecloth on your table and attach weights to the tablecloth to straighten any lingering creases and keep the tablecloth from sliding, which could cause the table edges to create future unwanted creases. Four small weights will work wonders for taking any creases out of your tablecloth and keeping it straight on your table.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can put the tablecloth and damp towel in the dryer for an additional 5 minutes if the first tumble does not smooth the wrinkles. This may help you avoid having to get out your iron.
  • Never use a hot iron directly on a vinyl tablecloth.
