Instructions

    • 1

Research the type of track shoe you want to draw by searching on the Internet or in magazines or catalogues for examples of different styles, designs and colors.

    • 2

Choose an image in the style you'd like to draw, based on the style of the shoe and the style of the photo (the way the shoes are positioned and if there are one or two shoes in the image).

    • 3

If using the Internet, print out the image or keep it on the screen as a reference as you draw your version on paper.

    • 4

Look at the main shapes of the shoe and try to mimic those shapes on paper. Draw the outline and any other main features (such as a Nike "swoosh") first. Don't worry about color or small details at first.

    • 5

Add the smaller shapes and details once you have perfected the large features.

    • 6

Add color, choosing whatever you like, not just the colors in the sample image. Smaller shapes and details on the shoes can be used for accent colors. Track shoes are often multicolored and can be brightly colored.

    • 7

Look over your drawing multiple times, taking breaks in between to get a "fresh" look each time. Adjust shapes and details until you are satisfied.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lines that are different colors than the bulk of the shoe should be drawn in pencil sketch as two parallel lines to be filled in later. Practice makes perfect, so don't be discouraged if your first track-shoe drawing is not successful.
