1
Clean your garden of all natural debris, such as dead plants. Decaying matter will attract snails and slugs to your garden to feed.
-
2
Search your entire garden carefully and remove any snails or slugs currently present. Failing to remove all slugs before building a protective border will prevent those currently in your garden from leaving.
-
-
3
Lay a ring of wood chips around the exterior of your garden. The chips will serve to dry up slugs or snails attempting to cross them, deterring the pests from accessing your garden.
-
4
Sprinkle lime juice in a ring outside the wood chips. The lime juice irritates the pests and serves to further discourage them from crawling into your garden.
-
5
Place yeast traps outside your protective rings by digging small holes for plastic containers such that the lids are level with the ground. Nearly fill the containers with beer. The yeast in the beer will attract the slugs or snails, and they will be unable to escape.
