How to Become a Phone Psychic

  1. Step 1

Determine what type of psychic you want to be. You may consider Tarot cards, Witches' Runes, crystals, pendulums or even playing cards. Some phone psychics don't use any tools at all.

  2. Step 2

Become proficient in your chosen method of divination. By understanding the tools you're working with, you'll sound more confident on the phone and callers will be less likely to feel ripped off or scammed.

  3. Step 3

Find the appropriate market for your ability. The phone psychic industry thrives on the Internet, and anyone can become a psychic online. You may also consider looking for the rare offline businesses that hire remote psychics to read via phone. The newspaper will sometimes have these ads.

  4. Step 4

Choose a list of companies to which you would like to apply and investigate them. Make sure they're legit and they won't try to exploit you. Run their name through the Better Business Bureau and read what clients, employees and ex-employees are saying about them.

  5. Step 5

Narrow down your list to a small handful of companies and apply at them all. Some will get back to you immediately. Some will take months, and some won't at all. Interview at as many as you can to see where you fit in, and compare job offers as they arrive. A hint that the company may not be ideal is disorganization, slow response times and unclear communication.

  6. Step 6

Pick one job offer and accept it, but don't turn down the others just yet. Most phone psychic businesses, particularly those online, will have you sign a "conflict of interest" clause that prevents you from working at another business offering the same service. Pay close attention to the wording of the contract. If it appears muddled, or the conditions of your pay are unclear, decline and choose a different offer. Never decline any offer until you've accepted the contract of one and are convinced they are legitimate. The phone psychic industry is ripe with scammers and exploitation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Finding the right phone psychic business for you may take a little bit of work. This is particularly true if you choose to work with tools other than Tarot or runes. Expect your would-be employer to test you to ensure your abilities as a competent reader. Most companies will be up front about this test, and may require several readings. A genuine, in depth test generally indicates a reputable company. Most companies will also have you sign a clause stating that you are an entertainer and cannot claim any supernatural powers. Take careful note of this and be sure to adhere to it.
  • If working online, beware of to whom you are giving out your information. Don't release any personal information unless you are convinced the company is legitimate. Beware of phone psychic companies offering "premium, members only" lists. These are often scams design to attract the unwary reader.
