Things You'll Need:
- Tape Measure
- Straight edge
- Power drill
- Jig saw or other cutting blade
- Nail gun
-
Step 1
Measure to find glass that will fit your cabinet doors using a tape measure. The cabinet door should have at least an inch or more border around the glass insert.
-
Step 2
Take the cabinet door off of the cabinet by using a screwdriver to remove the screws in the cabinet door hinges.
-
Step 3
Mark on the cabinet door where the frame is going to be located. Measure the width of the frame using a tape measure and make a mark with a pencil. Use a straight edge to leave straight lines to outline the frame on the cabinet door.
-
Step 4
Drill small holes in each corner of your frame using a power drill. The holes are used to insert the blade for the jig saw.
-
Step 5
Cut out the hole for the glass insert by following the outline with the jig saw.
-
Step 6
Place decorative trim pieces on the front side of the frame around the hole. Leave a half-inch edge on the inside of the frame. This will be used to secure the piece of glass to the cabinet door.
-
Step 7
Secure the decorative trim pieces to the door using a nail gun.
-
Step 8
Turn the cabinet door over and insert the piece of glass so that it sits on the edges of the decorative trim.
-
Step 9
Cut small wood strips, called quarter rounds, to place along the edge of the piece of glass. Secure the wood strips to the cabinet door using the nail gun or a hammer.
-
Step 10
Reattach the cabinet door to the cabinet to complete the project. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws for the cabinet door hinges.
