How to Mount a Photo to Foam Core
Whether you are creating a project for school or goal board for work, mounting photos onto foam core adds instant dimension to your projects. Though it does have a thickness to the board, foam core material is pliable. As it is being cut, the board will press together. However, after a foam core board has been cut, it returns to its original thickness.

1
Print out all photos you want to mount. If you have a film camera, take your photos to the store to be developed, then choose the photos you want to use.
-
2
Place photos throughout your foam core board as you would like the finished project to look. This will give you an idea how close or far apart to place photos with the space you have on the foam core board. If you plan to include areas for text to accompany your photos, be sure to leave extra space between photos. If you want to add splashes of color throughout your board, you can first mount photos onto colored construction paper. You can caption photos on the construction paper border around photos or directly onto the foam core board. Once photo placements have been finalized, you can begin gluing.

Turn your first photo over so the photo is face down on the table. Apply a thin squiggle of wood glue around the edges and in the center of your first photo. Flip the photo back over and press it firmly onto the foam core, starting from the top edges and working your way down the entire photo. Leave the newly glued photo to dry for about a minute.

Wipe away any excess glue that peeks out from the edges of the photo. Continue gluing until you have mounted all photos to your foam core.

Tips & Warnings
You can also mount each photo individually onto smaller foam core pieces, then glue the pieces onto a larger sheet of foam core. In this case, you will need two separate sheets of foam core.
Adhesive spray also mounts photos to foam core efficiently. Once you press a photo onto the foam core, it cannot be moved. After you have applied the spray, make sure where you are placing the photo is exactly where you want it to be. Rubber cement is not recommended for mounting photos onto foam core board. Photos will slide around on the foam core instead of sticking completely to the board. This will leave you with a sticky mess that is hard to clean.
