The Water Pik is an easy-to-use, motorized oral cleaner similar to the water spray that dentists use. Water Piks are great at removing loose debris from hard-to-reach areas of the mouth, and they are especially helpful to users with braces. Water Piks should not be used as a replacement for toothbrushes, dental floss or other types of dental hygiene. Rather, they are a supplement to these items that can help users achieve a happy and healthy mouth.

How to Use a Water Pik

  1. Step 1

Before using your Water Pik, it is important to thoroughly brush your teeth and floss. This will help loosen stuck debris and allow you to get the best results from the Water Pik.

  2. Step 2

Turn on the sink faucet and adjust the temperature to a comfortable personal setting. It is best to avoid extremely hot or cold temperatures, especially for users with sensitive teeth. Once the desired temperature is reached, fill the water reservoir of the Water Pik.

  3. Step 3

Keeping your head close to the sink, insert the wand of the Water Pik into your mouth, closing your mouth around it. It is important to keep your mouth closed to keep from making a mess while the machine is in use. Make sure the Water Pik is adjusted to the lowest setting, and turn on the machine. Adjust the strength of the machine to your desired setting.

  4. Step 4

Keeping your mouth closed, move the wand around the inside of your mouth, meticulously spraying individual teeth and crevices to remove debris. When your mouth has filled with water, turn the machine off and spit the water into the sink. Repeat this step as necessary.

  5. Step 5

When you have finished with the Water Pik, turn the machine off and empty any remaining liquid from the water reservoir into the sink. Replace the reservoir container, put the wand in its proper resting place, and your Water Pik should be ready for you to use again as you desire!
