- Detergent
- Water
- Bucket
- Linseed oil

Mix detergent with hot water in the bucket. You don't need a lot of detergent, just enough to produce a layer of suds on the water.

Dip a clean rag into the soapy water and wipe the brass down with the rag. This step is to remove and loosen any oil, dirt and grime that has accumulated on the brass.

Apply boiling linseed oil to a fresh clean cloth and wipe down the brass. This is a secondary way to remove excess grease and grime and give it the shine you are looking for. Linseed oil will help create a barrier that prevents tarnish. This should be done every six months.

Spray ammonia on the brass weekly and wipe it down with a fresh clean cloth.
