    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Water
    • Soft sponges
    • Clean, absorbent towels
    • Blackboard chalk
    • Bucket
      • 1

Wash the countertops with a soft sponge. Do not use soap or harsh cleaning chemicals when washing marble. Harsh chemicals will seep into cracks in your marble and gradually break down the bond.

      • 2

Allow the countertops to air dry for at least an hour after washing them.

      • 3

Towel off any excess water with a clean, absorbent towel.

      • 4

Crush a stick of white chalk into a bucket. Make sure the chalk is crushed into a powder.

      • 5

        Dampen a washrag or sponge.

      • 6

Dip the rag or sponge into the powdered chalk.

      • 7

Rub the chalk onto the countertop using back-and-fourth strokes.

      • 8

Allow the chalk and water to dry.

      • 9

Rinse the countertops with clean water.

      • 10

Dry the countertops with a clean, absorbent rag.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If using blackboard chalk is not your thing, check local stores for marble polishers.
