How to Attach Velcro
Velcro is the brand name of a closure system that sports a hook-and-loop fastening design. Consisting of a piece of bristled material that sticks to the corresponding looped or hairy fabric, Velcro is used on a variety of different products--from shoes to clothing to pictures. Although it's extremely lightweight, Velcro is durable and can be applied to almost anything. Velcro strips can be found in most arts and crafts stores in tabs, strips and even large rolls. Instructions
-
-
1
Cut the amount of Velcro you want to adhere to your wall or clothing.
-
2
Remove the plastic strip on the back side of the Velcro (for most arts and craft Velcro products). This exposes a glue that can be used to attach the Velcro strip onto a wall.
-
-
3
Hold down and press firmly against the strip of Velcro for a few moments. This makes sure the bond is secure between the strip of Velcro and the wall or other object.
-
4
Apply clothing glue to the underside of the Velcro, if you are applying it to clothing. Clothing Velcro is not going to have the prefabricated glue on the underside, because clothing needs a much stronger bond considering it will be washed. Clothing glue can also be purchased at most arts and craft stores.
-
5
Pinch down on the Velcro for several seconds. While pinching down with one hand, it's important to clean up and remove any excess glue that may have squeezed out onto the clothing. Wipe this off with a damp rag using your other hand.
