Paint spots and splatters can mar a set of windows. It seems no matter how small the paint marks may be, they stick out like a sore thumb. This is especially disturbing to those who have invested their money in dual-pane windows. Fortunately, there is a safe method for removing paint from glass that will get rid of those spots while protecting your dual-pane windows.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bucket
  • Dish washing soap
  • Water
  • Large sponge
  • Razor scraper
  • Squeegee
  1. Step 1

Clean the window well with window cleaner and a squeegee.

  2. Step 2

Make a mix of dish soap and warm water in a bucket, using about twice as much soap as you normally would when doing dishes. This will make for an extra slippery surface when you apply the soap to the window, which is necessary for safe removal of the paint when using this method.

  3. Step 3

Apply the water and soap solution to the window liberally with a sponge. Mount a brand new blade on the scraper, and test it on the window on a small inconspicuous area to ensure that it does not scratch the window.

  4. Step 4

Apply more soap and water over the paint spot to allow the blade to slide easily on the window. Place the blade of the scraper near the spot at about a 45-degree angle to the window surface.

  5. Step 5

Begin to scrape the paint off slowly at first, making sure no scratching is occurring. Add more soapy solution if necessary. Scrape only in a forward direction, as scraping backwards is more likely to scratch the window. You can scrape forward from all directions to remove all traces of the paint.

  6. Step 6

Use a window cleaner and a squeegee to clean everything up and finish the job.
