Things You'll Need:
- Volunteers
- Candy
- Decorations
- Communication
-
Step 1
Communication is the key. First, communicate to the congregation the details of the event through the bulletin, announcements, media screen, etc. Let them know when, where, how, etc. Also, communicate to the community through flyers, ads, church sign, etc. to let them know when they bring their children, what they can except emphasizing the fun and safety of the event.
-
Step 2
Have a sign-up available for those in the church who can participate. For those unable to be at the event, give them opportunity to participate by donating candy to the event. The candy is depleted quickly, so it is good to have extra bags on hand.
-
Step 3
Along with candy, it is a great opportunity to hand out encouraging notes about the love of Christ. Perhaps there are some upcoming kids programs at the church that you can hand out, too.
-
Step 4
Make sure that the area designated for the Trunk-or-Treat is well lighted (usually the parking lot of the church) with signs, cones, and volunteers directing traffic to make sure everyone is kept safe.
