Comic book

This is an activity that an adult can do with children or have them do it on their own. It allows the person and child to spend time together and connect (especially for parents). It also allows children to use their imagination and learn to read.

An adult can also do this and give it as a gift to a child.

Ideas on the topics and characters of the comic book can be endless. The stories can be about superheroes, TV characters, family members, etc.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Get all of the materials together on a spacious, clutter free area. The dining table or a desk is a good place.

  2. Step 2

Ponder a little on the topic of the story, who the characters will be, and how the story will develop.

  3. Step 3
    Boxes

    Boxes

Draw 4 to 6 boxes on a few sheets of paper; front and back. These boxes are where the story will be written. It is up to you how large the boxes will be.

  4. Step 4

Draw the images in the boxes along with the call-outs. Then write the text inside the call-out.

  5. Step 5

Design the construction papers which will be the covers (front and back covers) of the comic book with the title of story.

  6. Step 6

Staple or glue the right edge of the pages together along with the covers.

Tips & Warnings
  • This activity can encourage children to read.
  • Do not worry about grammar with young children.
  • Do not worry if the squares are perfect.
  • You can glue cutouts from magazines instead of drawing.
