Things You'll Need:
- Gift Wrap
- Scissors
-
Step 1
The first thing you will need to do is cut your gift wrap. Each piece of gift wrap should be cut into rectangles the size of gum wrappers (1” X 2 ¾”). Make several you will need a lot of these!
-
Step 2
With the piece of paper lengthwise, fold it in half and make a crease down the fold in the paper. Unfold the paper and lay with the picture facing down.
-
Step 3
Fold the bottom edge of the paper into the center crease you just created. Do the same with the other side.
-
Step 4
Now fold the paper in half again along the crease you created in step 2. You piece of paper should now be about a fourth of an inch wide and two and three quarters inches long.
-
Step 5
Now fold you paper in half lengthwise. You paper should look like a “V” Press this fold to form a crease in the paper.
-
Step 6
Take each of the ends and fold them into the center of the length of paper where you just created your crease.
-
Step 7
You have just created one link. Now repeat the above steps to make several links for your Gum Wrapper Chains with Gift Wrap.
-
Step 8
Once you have several links formed you will need to connect them together to form the chain. Hold your first or starter link between your thumb and your index finger. Make sure the fold is between your fingers and the open ends or top of the “V” is loose. The side of the link with four folds should be on the right side when the link is facing you and the “V” is toward you.
-
Step 9
Now take the second link in your right hand, make sure the top of the “V” is sticking out of your hand and the bottom crease of the “V” is between your fingers. Again the side with four folds should be facing toward the right side of your hand.
-
Step 10
Now slide the link in your right hand through the folds in the link of your left hand. Make sure the crease in the second link is pressed snuggly against the tops of the first link.
-
Step 11
To add your third link you will need to just slide the open ends of your “V” through the second link of your chain. Continue adding new links to your chain until you have reached the desired length.
