How to Take Care of a Broken Little Toe

Breaking your little pinky toe can really hurt. It feels like it has effected your entire body. If you walk around your home often, I'm sure you have hit your toe on something that will cause you to do "the pain dance".

Things You'll Need

  • Wrapping
  • Patience

If you have stepped off of a stool, or caught your little toe on a piece of furniture, then you know how bad it can feel. Worse yet, you know when you broke it. If you hear it crack, that's bad. If you look down and your little toe is pointed in a completely different direction, it's time to get help.

Find somewhere to sit immediately. Adding more pressure to it, or stepping on it the wrong way can do further damage. If you want to go to a doctor, then by all means go.. but they will most likely tell you that there is not much you can do for a broken little toe. If you are by yourself, call someone to come over to help you.

If you have someone with you, have them get some gauze wrapping with the tape and very gently place the toe in line with the other toes. It may or may not be extremely painful. Have them place the wrapping around the two or three toes closest to it. Then carefully tape them together. You will have to do this for a while to get the bone to heal itself. I know because I did this a while back.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to wear very comfortable shoes. Do not tie the shoes tight. In fact, if you have shoes that are a little big, wear them.
