How to Make Tuna Patties

Things You'll Need

  • 2 7-oz. cans tuna
  • 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise or plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tbsp. horseradish sauce
  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

      Combine tuna, bread crumbs, mayonnaise or yogurt, mustard, salt, pepper and horseradish in a bowl.

      Spray a skillet with a nonstick cooking spray and preheat on medium heat.

      Shape the tuna mixture into four patties and place in preheated skillet.

      Fry the patties for four to five minutes until browned. Flip them over and fry for an additional four to five minutes until browned.

      Serve the patties on plain or toasted buns or bread cut to the size of the patties. Add lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, as desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of horseradish, add a dash of lemon juice to the mix.

  • As an alternative to pan frying, broil the patties under an oven broiler for five minutes on each side, then cook for two minutes per side on the grill.

  • Melt a slice of American, Cheddar or other cheese on top of the patties for tuna melts.

  • Substitute canned salmon with dill seasoning for the tuna and horseradish for a change.
