Many people say to stay away from fruit because it has too much sugar, or too much of this or that... However, fruit is all natural and filled with nutrients, so as long as it's not the ONLY thing you eat, you'll be fine. Most of us could stand to add more fruit to our diet, and it's very simple to do.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fruits
  1. Step 1

Smoothies are a delicious snack you and your kids will love. You can drink a fruit smoothie everyday. They are simple to make, just throw in a banana, some strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, or whatever you have, with some ice and a little fruit juice and/or milk (I use almond milk) or even yogurt. Blend it for about 30 seconds or until all the ice is chopped up well, and drink.

(You can even use frozen fruit for these, just reduce some of the ice you use when blending.)

  2. Step 2

If you're a big dessert fan, why not top them with fruits? You can use berries, apples, bananas, pineapples, oranges, etc for toppings in cereal, on ice cream, on waffles and pancakes, on cakes and pies... The list is endless.

When you top your foods with fruit, you are sneaking in some extra vitamins and fiber!

  3. Step 3

Add fruits to your salad. Does this sound disgusting to you? Try it!
Try adding cranberries, mandarin oranges, raisins, berries, avocado, and other fruits as salad toppings. It will add a nice interesting burst of flavor, and, of course, extra health benefits!

  4. Step 4

Finally, you can also try eating fruit as an appetizer or a snack rather than a greasy fried food such as mozzarella sticks, french fries, or potato chips... Fruit is a much healthier alternative.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be scared to add fruit to things you might not have considered before: Be creative!
  • Of course, you might not want to add cherries or pineapples to that vegetable soup... But use common sense and you will be eating more fruits in no time!

on 11/29/2009 Nice, nice, nice, nice, nice. GOOD ARTICLE! We all need more fruit. The smoothies are a great source of several servings and so nutritious. I use 1/3 of a pack of silken tofu and it makes those smoothies creamy as a milk shake. Thanks Bethany - you're a real peach!
