Use your silicone cookware effectively to make flavorful foods without the messy clean up of traditional cookware. Silicone cookware's wide temperature range makes it suitable for the hot oven and the cold freezer. Push the boundaries of your cooking by utilizing the resilient properties of quality silicone cookware.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Silicone cookware
  • Dish soap
  • Hot water
  • Paper towel
  • Nonstick spray
  • Batter
  • Oven
  • Oven mitts
  1. Step 1

Hand wash your new silicone cookware with hot water and dish soap before its first use. This will give you a clean cooking surface by removing any dust or grime buildup that may have accumulated while it sat in the store before you purchased it.

  2. Step 2

Dry the entire surface of your silicone cookware with a paper towel before spraying the interior with a nonstick spray. Drying before the spray will prevent water droplets from repelling the oils in the spray and give you a better chance to release your foods without sticking or breaking.

  3. Step 3

Pour your raw batter into the cookware, leaving the top fifth of the cooking vessel empty to have room for upward expansion. Foods that are not held down by sticking tend to rise higher.

  4. Step 4

Place your silicone cookware in a preheated oven to bake or into the freezer until you are ready to cook. Check the instructions that came with your cookware to know the specific temperature limits. Place your dish on a cookie sheet for extra stability when using flimsy silicone cookware.

  5. Step 5

Use oven mitts to remove your silicone cookware from the hot oven when it has finished cooking. Silicone cookware cools rapidly on the counter and will be cool enough to touch in just a couple of minutes.

  6. Step 6

When the cookware has cooled, pull the sides away from the food and lift or dump your cooked item out. Pop muffins out by pressing on the bottom of the cup to turn it inside out.

Tips & Warnings
  • Roll up, stack or fold your silicone cookware to reduce its size for storage. It will retain its shape and spring back when you take it out to cook. Clean your silicone cookware in the upper level of the dishwasher after its first use. Cooked foods can be safely stored in the cookware when covered and placed in the refrigerator.
  • Using harsh abrasive cleaners on your silicone cookware will cause it to degrade faster and not release foods as well. Heating or cooling your silicone cookware outside the suggested range may lead to cracking, breaking and discoloration.
