How to Decorate a Winnie the Pooh Cake

Winnie the Pooh is a popular character among toddlers and preschoolers. This lovable golden bear makes children giggle with the silly adventures that he gets into, such as sticking his head in a pot of honey. Delight your child and his friends by throwing a Winnie the Pooh Party. Purchase streamers and balloons in colors of green, red, yellow and light blue. One of the biggest highlights of the party is the cake.

Things You'll Need

• Eight-inch round or square cake pan
• Wax paper or parchment paper
• Winnie the Pooh picture
• Food coloring pen
• Yellow butter cream icing
• Red decorative icing
• Green decorative icing
• Black decorative icing
• Spoon
• Winnie the Pooh cake figurines

Instructions

1. Print out the image of Winnie the Pooh that you would like to use on top of the cake. Make sure that you print the image the size that fits on your cake.

2. Bake a cake in an 8 inch round or square pan. Frost your cake with a thick buttercream icing and wait at least an hour for the frosting to slightly stiffen.

3. Trace the image of Winnie the Pooh onto wax or parchment paper.

4. Hold the image on the cake and use a toothpick or a pin to prick holes following the outline of the image. Remove the transparent paper from the cake.

5. Connect the dots that were created in Step 4 with a food coloring pen until you have the base outline of Winnie the Pooh. Use the picture as a guide as you decorate with frosting.

6. Fill a bag with dark yellow butter cream icing and use a star decorating tip to fill in Winnie the Pooh's body.

7. Pipe black decorative icing onto the cake and create his eyes and eyebrows.

8. Create an upside-down triangle with your black decorative icing for Winnie the Pooh's nose. Fill in the nose moving the icing in a back and forth motion. Use the back side of a spoon to give his nose a round shape.

9. Use red frosting to create Winnie the Pooh's shirt. Use several different colored frostings to create scenery from One Hundred Acre Woods, where Winnie the Pooh and his friends reside. Create grass, rivers or trees.

10. Add Winnie the Pooh cake figurines such as Tigger, Piglet, or Rabbit around your cake if you desire.
