      Make sure the light bulb is turned off and cool before you change the light. Use the ladder to reach the light bulb. Remove the panel or diffuser from beneath the bulb so you can get to the fluorescent light itself.

      Take the tube out by holding it firmly and rotating it so that it is in line with the loading slot. One side should come out first; tilt the bulb gently down so the other side slides out as well.

      Place a new fluorescent bulb into the slot and line up the prongs with the slots in the socket. Rotate the bulb counterclockwise so that it sits firmly. Test the light to make sure it is working.

  • If you replace a light bulb and the light still does not work, you made need to replace the ballast of the light, which is a small silver cylinder near one end of the bulb.
