How to Drain a Hot Tub Easily Using a Drain Garden Hose
Draining the hot tub is an essential maintenance task from time to time. Whether changing the water or winterizing, the process of water removal is the same. Turn off the electricity to the hot tub by shutting off the power at the breaker box. Turn the hot tub heater dial to the "off" position.

Pull off the cover of the spa power pack and pop out the filter with a gentle tug. Discard the filter and set the power cover to the side.

Twist on a standard garden hose to the bottom drain spout. Run the hose out to an area that will be unaffected by the release of water. Twist the drain open from the inside and empty the tub.

Close the drain and disconnect the garden hose. Replace the filter and reattach the spa power pack cover if you are going to refill the tub. Dry the tub with towels and protect with a proper hot tub cover if you are winterizing. Turn the electricity on at the breaker box.

Tips & Warnings
Turn the electricity on briefly as it drains to turn on the electric blowers (if so equipped). This will clear air out of the lines. Loosen the couplers on the heater housing and one coupler on each of the pumps to drain the water completely from the system if you are winterizing. Leave electricity off while you empty water from the electric-powered components.
