How to Control Blackheads
Blackheads appear on the skin after the pores become clogged with oils and impurities. Because the pores are stretched open, these oils are oxidized by the air and turn brown. When seen from a distance, the brown pores appear black, thus the term "blackhead" is used. To eliminate blackheads from the skin, it is necessary to exfoliate and treat the skin. Does this Spark an idea?

Flush out the pores with an herbal facial steam. Heat 4 cups of water until it boils, then pour it into a large bowl. Add 5 drops of chamomile oil to the water. Chamomile oil reduces redness on the skin and relaxes the pores, which can help excrete bacteria from the skin and stop inflammation. Drape a clean towel over the neck and head area, and hold the face over the bowl. Steam will billow over the skin and will help the skin release blockages and clogged oils. After about 10 minutes, rinse the skin well with water to wash off the oils that have been flushed.

Purge the pores with an olive oil cleanse. Oil can bind to other oils better than water can, and a non-comedogenic oil like olive oil can effectively bind to the trapped oils in blackheads. Pour 2 tbsp. olive oil into the hands and rub them together. Smooth the hands over the face, massaging the oil into the skin. Do not be afraid to apply the oil to the skin. Massage the oil into the places that contain the most blackheads. Let the oil sit on the skin for 5 minutes to allow the oil to attach to the clogged oils in the blackheads. Soak a washcloth in hot water, and squeeze out the water. Place the cloth on top of the face. The heat and steam will open the pores, allowing the olive oil and oils from the blackheads to leave the skin. Wipe away the excess oil with the cloth.

Treat the skin with an anti-bacterial oil. Tea tree oil kills off bacteria, reduces redness and tightens the pores. The oil can be applied to areas that have blackheads to relieve trapped oils and to prevent further entrapment. Dip a cotton swab into a tea tree oil and dip it again into water to dilute it. Rub the diluted oil onto the blackheads. Repeat up to three times per day.
