How to Install a Flush Mount or Undermount Sink
The installation of flush mounted sinks is a procedure that can not be rushed. Each part of the process requires the use of chemicals like epoxy and silicone. Without the proper amount of cure time, the sink will not hold in place. This can result in damage to the flush mount sink and the piping located in the sink cabinet. When proper cure time is allotted for each step, the undermount sink will perform flawlessly for many years. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hire a professional to cut the hole in the solid surface countertop. The hole will need to be precisely cut to properly fit the undermount sink. After the cut is performed, there is an edging process that adds the countertop profile and finish to the cut edges. Supply the contractor with the sink location and template. If the countertop is installed, the contractor can perform the cut and polishing process with the countertop in place.

2
Clean the underside of the countertop after the hole has been cut and polished. Brush the entire area around the hole for the sink with the dust brush. Soak a clean rag with denatured alcohol. Wipe a 4- inch wide area around the hole. Re-soak the rag with denatured alcohol when necessary.

3
Hold the sink against the underside of the countertop. Align the sink with the hole. All sides of the sink need to have the same reveal. Use a permanent marker to trace the outline of the sink. Place a mark outside of the sink outline for each mounting location of the sink. Remove the sink.

4
Open the epoxy. Place a dime-size amount of epoxy at two of the mounting locations. Make sure that the epoxy is outside of the traced sink outline. Insert a 3/16th-inch stainless steel stud into each epoxy location. After the epoxy has set enough to hold the studs in place, continue applying epoxy and 3/16th-inch studs at each mounting point. Allow the epoxy to fully cure before continuing to the next step.

5
Clean the mounting flange of the undermount sink with a clean denatured alcohol-soaked rag. Insert the silicone caulk into the drop-in caulking gun. Cut the caulking tube nozzle on a 45-degree angle that is 1/8th-inch wide. Apply a 1/8th inch continuous bead of silicone to the flush mount sink mounting flange. Secure a sink mounting clip, washer, lock washer and nut to each 3/16th inch stud fastened to the underside of the countertop. Leave the nuts loose on the studs. Rotate the sink mounting clips away from the traced outline of the sink.
-
6
Align the sink with the traced outline while not allowing the silicone caulking to touch the underside of the countertop. When the sink is perfectly aligned, press the sink tightly against the countertop. Rotate the sink mounting clips under the mounting flange. Snug the nuts onto the studs. Do not over tighten the studs. Make sure that all sink mounting clips are tight. Allow the silicone caulk to set for 24 hours before attaching the plumbing to the undermount sink.
