Instructions

    • 1

Place the piece of 24-by-48-inch plywood on a worktable. Measure in from the 48-inch edges and make several marks at 6 inches. Repeat this on the 24-inch edges.

    • 2

Place the chalk line on the marks and pop lines on all four sides of the plywood. This will result in a 12-by-36-inch rectangle in the center of the plywood.

    • 3

Cut two pieces of the decorative molding on an inside 45-degree angle. Set the electric miter saw on the opposite 45-dgree angle. Measure from the tip of the cut angle; make a mark at 36 inches for each piece and cut the inside miter on that mark. Repeat this process for two 12-inch pieces.

    • 4

Place the outside edge of the molding on the chalk lines and secure it to the plywood with ½-inch brads. Be sure to set the nail heads with the nail set and fill the holes with either painter's caulk or wood putty.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 around the 24-by-48-inch edges of the plywood. Secure the molding to the plywood with the ½-inch brads. Paint or stain your panel as desired.

    • 6

Locate the studs in the wall where the wall panel will be secured with the stud finder. Measure up from the floor and make a mark on one of the studs.

    • 7

Place the carpenter's level on the mark and draw a horizontal line on the wall. Place the wall panel on the line and secure to the wall with 6d finish nails.

Tips & Warnings

  • Repeat these steps for as many wall panels as you need. Sand the wood putty or painter's caulk before staining and painting.

  • Do not leave power tools unattended in the presence of children. Do not paint or stain your wall panels without proper ventilation.
