How to Design Your Own Animated Elegant Text

One of the more interesting effects you see in commercials, videos and movies is animated text. It is often used to create elegant animated logos or titles. If you would like to make an animated logo or title using an elegant font, a good way to do it is to use the animation tools in Adobe Photoshop. If you're not using Photoshop CS3 Extended or a later version, you will have to use Photoshop's companion program, ImageReady, to animate the text.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "New." In the dialog box that opens, make the pixel width, height and resolution whatever you need for your project. For example, videos posted on YouTube generally are 400x300 at 72 resolution. Once you enter your settings, click "OK."

Click on the "Foreground" color at the bottom of the toolbar. In the dialog box that opens, select the color you would like the background to be and click "OK." Select the "Paint Bucket" and use it to fill the canvas with that color.

Select the "Text" tool. In the options at the topm select the elegant font you want to use (such as Blackadder ITC). Then set the size and change the color to whatever you want the text itself to be, as long as it shows well against the background color. Type in your text. Go to "Layer" in the menu and select "Rasterize." This will make the text editable.

Select "Windows" in the menu and click "Animation." An animation timeline will now appear at the bottom of the screen. Select the single frame in the timelinem then click on the "Duplicate" icon under the timeline. You now have two identical frames in the timeline.

Select the first frame and use the "Move" tool to move the text to where you want it to be at the start of the animation. Then select the second frame and move the text where you want it to be at the end. Now click the "Tweening" button and enter the number of frames you want added between the two current frames. When you preview the animation, you will see moving text. Save your animation as a GIF or AVI file. It is ready to be loaded into your video editing software for incorporation into your video.
