Choosing a puppy that fits your lifestyle.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choosing a pet can be one of hardest things a person can do. Puppies are adorable animals and it can be very tempting to take the first puppy you meet home with you. However, you should be aware that you might not be happy with your purchase if your personalities do not match.

  2. Step 2

In order for you to pick out a puppy, it is best to learn more about yourself. You can write a list of 10 activities that you enjoy doing. Your list can consist of activites such as, running, walking, hiking, painting, watch movies, watching sports. Of course there are many more, but there are a few to get you started.

  3. Step 3

Once you have determined what activities you enjoy doing you can determine you energy level. If you do enjoy hiking, running, walking, swimming, there are many dogs that would love to do these activities with you. If you are a lower energy person, your dog should match you. Mastiffs are great and are very calm.

  4. Step 4

There are other things to consider when choosing a puppy. Are you willing to groom the dog or is there someone in your family that is allergic to dogs. There are hypoallergenic dogs and there are dogs that shed a lot of hair all year round. You should research at www.dogbreedinfo.com to search for a breed that fits you and your lifestyle.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many dogs that are in shelters and need a new friend, look there before going to a breeder.
  • Look out for puppy mills.
