How to Decide on a Refrigerator

Buying a new refrigerator is a big investment. With prices ranging from $500 to $3000 consumers will be spending a large amount of money any a unit. So, this means the prudent move is to become a smart, educated consumer, willing to shop around and do some homework prior to making a decision.

  1. Step 1

    First decide on the size of the refrigerator that is needed. Refrigerators came in cubic feet and there is a basic scale based on family size. But, deciding on what size is up to each individual consumer. Remember, the larger the refrigerator the more the cost.]

  2. Step 2

    After picking out the necessary size, focus in the style of the unit. Refrigerators come in different styles; Side by side, freezer on top, freezer unit on bottom and double doors with freezer on the bottom. Each on has their advantages and come with different cost. The cheapest is the freezer on top, while the double door with freezer on the bottom

  3. Step 3

    Decide on color. There are two main colors, white and black, but stainless steel has become a popular unit. Stainless steel refrigerators tend to be more expensive.

  4. Step 4

    Remember to check where the unit will be sitting. Make sure the unit will fit. Measure the height and width to make sure everything will go smoothly. Also, check for a water hook up for the ice maker and water dispenser.

  5. Step 5

    Do the research thing, searching refrigerator units for such things as energy efficient and warranties. Do some Google searches and take the time to read up on the different options.

  6. Step 6

    Shop around period. Go to the different stores and attempt to use their deals against each other. Work the best deal possible.
