Master Web Marketing for your Small Business

Web marketing for your small business has never been easier! Although the web is a very crowded space these days, with the right plan in place you can dominate your industry.

This article teaches you simple steps you can implement to get a jump start on your web marketing, and get a hand up on your competition!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Patience.... just a little!
  • Web Savv
  • Desire to learn
  1. Step 1

Launch your company website or blog. Web marketing for your small business begins with this sturdy foundation... and this same foundation is the centerpiece for all the communication with your clients.

  2. Step 2

Setup an opt-in mailing list. For example, sign up to get my Weekly Tip. This allows you to capture emails and use them for future marketing efforts.

  3. Step 3

Implement an RSS feeder for increased success in web marketing for your small business. This is the industry standard orange RSS feed button you see on most websites/blogs. It allows your readers to automatically receive your updates without having to visit your site every single day.

  4. Step 4

Create Social Media accounts. The major ones are Twitter, Facebook and Digg. Integrate them into your website and constantly promote people to become your friend or pass along your information throughout their friend networks.

  5. Step 5

Keep fresh, updated content flowing into your web property. Successful web marketing for a small business means you are constantly helping people solve their problems.

  6. Step 6

Create 1 or several videos for your web marketing. Then optimize these videos by placing them on bigger websites such as YouTube or TubeMogul. This will create backlinks to your site; thus increasing your SEO relevance.

  7. Step 7

Place your email, website, and contact info at the bottom of your emails. This is an overlooked, yet very powerful place to continue the marketing efforts for your small business.

  8. Step 8

Write articles for major blogs in your industry. If you can add value to a blogger's web property, they will most likely publish your article and reward you with 1 or more backlinks to your web property!

Tips & Warnings
  • Stay focused out there. Currently there are thousands of social media sites to chose from. They all work differently for different industries. Choose 3 or 4 and STICK TO THEM.
  • If you don't know something, look it up! The internet is filled with helpful blogs and websites that teach you how to do just about everything and anything you can imagine!
  • Stay consistent with updating your information. Search engines reward consistent, credible websites that deliver on their message.... and deliver frequently!
  • Don't just sign up for every single social media account that comes your way... soon you will be spending your days becoming half decent at many sites, opposed to MASTERING 3 or 4.
  • Don't fall for the Affiliate Marketing messages. Especially here on eHow, authors are trying to get you signed up for their affiliate programs with outside writing websites that promise results.
