Ants can ruin cookouts and picnics. They can climb up the picnic table legs, and make there way into the food and drinks of your guest. At your next party or outdoor function, try this little trick to keep ants off the table.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an 4 empty bowl or bucket shaped containers. They should have deep sides, a flat bottom and be wide enough that the leg of the table will fit inside it.

  2. Step 2

Fill the bowls or buckets partly with water. Do not fill over 1/2 full.

  3. Step 3

Have a someone lift each leg of the table, and place it inside the container of water. This will prevent the ants from crawling up the table legs.

  4. Step 4

After the table is not being used any more, have someone lift the table, and remove the containers. It's not good for the table to be in the water for extended periods of time.

Tips & Warnings
  • This method will work for other types of outdoor tables as well.
  • Make sure the table is level and stable!
  • Do not use this on surfaces that water will ruin.
