How to Recycle TIN CANS to make PIN CUSHIONS and FREE Gifts thumbnail
Use this photo as your guide.

Why just throw away that empty soup can?
Instead make something cool out of it! You can make FREE gifts for your family and friends using an empty tin can. This article I have featured my CHAIR pin cushions. Do you have a seamstress in the family? You can also use the chair just for a doll to sit on.

Things You'll Need

  • empty soup can
  • strong scissors or tin snips
  • a few cotton balls
  • a tiny piece of fabric
  • glue (any kind)
  • Optional: beads or gems to further decorate your item
  • Optional: tight leather gloves to keep from cutting your self.

Instructions

    • 1
      Bottom view

Get an empty and clean tin can. Copy the photo that I attached to use as your "go-by." Using your scissor or tin snips start cutting strips
down the side of the can. Leave some tin can space between your strips and the one lid that is left. Work slowly and patiently. I have never worn gloves while doing this and I have never cut myself because I work slowly.

After you have cut strips all around the tin can this is when the FUN begins because this is where the creative part starts. You can make any design you want. Pull some of the tin strips upward; as this will be the back of the CHAIR. Pull some of the strips down as they will be the LEGS of the chair.

Again, use the photos as your guide. Take your tiny piece of fabric and fill it with a couple of cotton balls or batting. Tuck the fabric under and glue to the SEAT of the CHAIR. This is the padding that is the pin cushin or it is the padding that is for the doll to sit on.
Next, the choic is yours, you can add your own decorative tuck using beads if you like. I used some tiny decorations: see photo
