Instructions

    • 1

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water to make a paste. For large jobs, double or triple the recipe.

    • 2

Smear the paste on the rust, and apply gentle rubbing motion within the grain of the stainless steel.

    • 3

Rinse the baking soda paste off well. The rust should be gone or there should be less rust.

    • 4

If rust remains, apply the baking soda paste again. This time use a plastic or nylon mesh scrubber, and use elbow grease. If the stainless steel has a grain, rub with the grain. Do not use a metal scrubber as it will scratch the surface. Be sure to rinse the stainless steel well.

Tips & Warnings

  • A wipe with club soda will eliminate streaks on stainless steel. For a shiny, streak-free finish, rub in a trace of olive oil.
