During deployments, soldiers rely on the support of family, friends, and the community to get through a long year away from home. There are several things you can do to show support for your soldier. Read on and find out how.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write letters to them a few times a month. Tell them about everyday life back home. It is the small things that remind the soldier of home and comfort them. Make sure to include a few pictures that they can look at throughout their day. Despite talking to my husband every day he still asked for these reminders that he was being remembered.

  2. Step 2

Sending packages with small items also show support to a deployed soldier. Candy, movies, music, magazines, games, and any other small luxuries mean a lot when you are sleeping on a cot in the middle of the desert.

  3. Step 3

If your soldier has access to a web cam, make sure to put it to use. Seeing a familiar face and hearing a loved ones voice is a great support and comfort. With the technology available today, there is no reason that a soldier shouldn't see and hear the best support of all.
